`openencoder`

Open Source Cloud Encoder for FFmpeg

A distributed and scalable video encoding pipeline to be used\n as an API or web interface using your own hosted or cloud infrastructure\n and FFmpeg encoding presets.\n

⚠️ Currently functional, but a work-in-progress! Check back for updates!

\n\n\n## Features\n* HTTP API for submitting jobs to a redis-backed FFmpeg worker\n* FTP and S3 storage (AWS, Digital Ocean Spaces and Custom S3 Providers supported)\n* Web Dashboard UI for managing encode jobs, workers, users and settings\n* Machines UI/API for scaling cloud worker instances in a VPC\n* Database stored FFmpeg encoding presets\n* User accounts and roles\n\n\n## Preview\n![Screenshot](screenshot.png) \n\n\n## Development\n\n#### Requirements\n* Docker\n* Go 1.11+\n* NodeJS 8+ (For web dashboard)\n* FFmpeg\n* Postgres\n* S3 API Credentials & Bucket (AWS or Digital Ocean)\n* Digital Ocean API Key (only required for Machines API)\n\nDocker is optional, but highly recommended for this setup. This guide assumes you are using Docker.\n\n\n#### Setup\n* Start Redis and Postgres in Docker:\n```\ndocker-compose up -d redis\ndocker-compose up -d db\n```\n\nWhen the database container runs for the first time, it will create a persistent volume as `/var/lib/postgresql/data`. It will also run the scripts in `scripts/` to create the database, schema, settings, presets, and an admin user.\n\n* Build & start API server:\n```\ngo build -v && ./openencoder server\n```\n\n* Start the worker:\n```\n./openencoder worker\n```\n\n* Start Web Dashboard for development:\n```\ncd static && npm run serve\n```\n\n* Open `http://localhost:8081/dashboard` in the browser and login with `admin/password`.\n\n\nSee [Quick-Setup-Guide](https://github.com/alfg/openencoder/wiki/Quick-Setup-Guide-%5Bfor-development%5D) for full development setup guide.\n\n## API\nSee: [API.md](/API.md)\n\n\n## Scaling\nYou can scale workers by adding more machines via the Web UI or API.\n\nCurrently only `Digital Ocean` is supported. More providers are planned.\n\nSee: [API.md](/API.md) for Machines API documentation.\n\n\n## Documentation\nSee: [wiki](https://github.com/alfg/openencoder/wiki) for more documentation.\n\n\n## Roadmap\nSee: [Development Project](https://github.com/alfg/openencoder/projects/1) for current development tasks and status.\n\n\n## License\nMIT\n","has_starred","hub_user","immutable_tags_settings",{"_75":11,"_76":77},"enabled","rules",[78],".*","is_automated","permissions",{"_82":22,"_83":11,"_84":11},"read","write","admin","user","storage_size",1022846921,"orgData","recentTags",[91,128,134],{"_92":44,"_93":94,"_95":96,"_97":98,"_99":100,"_50":117,"_118":94,"_119":33,"_120":56,"_57":121,"_122":123,"_124":108,"_125":117,"_126":66,"_127":22},"content_type","creator",7840,"full_size",58160011,"id",64973110,"images",[101],{"_102":103,"_104":105,"_106":48,"_107":108,"_109":110,"_111":112,"_113":48,"_114":-5,"_115":96,"_63":66,"_116":-5},"architecture","amd64","digest","sha256:d21760f1f729d83584fe73e99a820f85581800fd3f0bd0bcbaeccf7cd43ec84f","features","last_pulled","2026-11-04T11:26:01.955235665Z","last_pushed","2021-08-03T06:17:43Z","os","linux","os_features","os_version","size","variant","2021-08-03T06:17:43.947741Z","last_updater","last_updater_username","media_type","latest","repository",7534772,"tag_last_pulled","tag_last_pushed","tag_status","v2",{"_92":44,"_93":94,"_95":96,"_97":129,"_99":130,"_50":132,"_118":94,"_119":33,"_120":56,"_57":133,"_122":123,"_124":108,"_125":132,"_126":66,"_127":22},160935139,[131],{"_102":103,"_104":105,"_106":48,"_107":108,"_109":110,"_111":112,"_113":48,"_114":-5,"_115":96,"_63":66,"_116":-5},"2021-08-03T06:17:42.690268Z","0.9.2",{"_92":44,"_93":94,"_95":135,"_97":136,"_99":137,"_50":142,"_118":94,"_119":33,"_120":56,"_57":143,"_122":123,"_124":140,"_125":142,"_126":66,"_127":22},58160280,160933169,[138],{"_102":103,"_104":139,"_106":48,"_107":140,"_109":141,"_111":112,"_113":48,"_114":-5,"_115":135,"_63":66,"_116":-5},"sha256:2dca07bad0080d1ca629232bbe983b139a689e08dc6016ccfcb45254ec4b8c3a","2026-11-04T16:14:35.720013062Z","2021-08-03T05:53:01Z","2021-08-03T05:53:00.613393Z","0.9.1","sbxKitMetadata","isPotentialSpam","isHubSbxKitsEnabled","showSbxRunInCloud","showSbxAgenticPlatformBadge","showSbxLogoOverride","sbxTrademarkText","displaySecurityMetadata","tagAttestations","tagsHaveAttestations",[],"selectedTag","attestationsUrl","routes/_layout.r.$namespace.$reponame.builds",{"_31":11,"_36":-5},"actionData","errors"]
